Theatre workshop
Theatre offers us a powerful medium for the exploration of culture and diversity. This week-long programme will begin with basic stage technique and movement, but will quickly focus on the creation and development of original pieces of theatre using the body, voice, text, song, and anything else we want - always keeping the encounter's common theme of interculturalism as a touchstone. The technical/training content of the programme will evolve and respond to the participants' creativity; we'll focus on the skills we need to create the type of theatre we want!No previous experience in theatre is necessary... just loose, comfortable clothing and the desire to play!
The workshop leader
Robert Kelly, Ireland
I'm an actor and theatre facilitator from Ireland.... currently studying theatre at the Ecole de Jacques Lecoq in Paris, but prior to this I was the artistic director of Sligo Youth Theatre and a board member of the National Association for Youth Drama (Ireland). My professional experience in theatre and acting includes stage, circus, improvisation, film, working with young people, old people, people with disabilities, and people in general! In life and in my work, I want to play... to create theatre which surprises, challenges, and liberates. And thats what we're going to do!
